Conducting River Cross Section and Embankment Asset Management in Rapti River Basin (1376 km Length)

The river and embankment survey in Rapti river basin, and cover the main stem of Rapti river and major flood-contributing rivers (Burhi Rapti, Kurra, Ami and Rohin) and all embankments and associated structures within Rapti basin from Nepal Border up to confluence in Ghagra River.

Actual Services provided by the Firm

• Fixing of DGPS control points for 840 Benchmark. • Workshop of the Departmental Engineering on the procedure/machines to be deployed under the contract • Obtaining GTS bench marks from Survey of India and transferring the levels on the control points, fixing TBMs enroute along the river length of 1376 km. • Undertaking five River sample cross sections in the field, taking approval of the cross section format, procedure etc. from the department. • Digitization of the entire project area including the rivers, embankments etc on GIS platform. • Obtaining available information related to the embankment history including L Section, cross section, regulator etc. For 1042 km length of embankment. • Undertaking Embankment Asset Management Survey using the Juno machine, development of the GIS model, generation of the hard copies including the photographs and submission to respective division and Geo tagging of all the field assets for 22068 photos in number and linking in GIS. • Interaction with various stakeholders and discussed about vulnerable reaches. • Undertaking details of the Embankment physical status, regulator inlets, river training works and sensitive and most sensitive reaches on embankment etc. Using GPS machine in entire Rapti River Basin. • Undertaking River cross section for the length of 1376 km of Rapti River Basin using Echo sounder machine (for water portion) and Electronic Total Station (Dry portion). • Organized training programmes for Government officials. • Submission of river and embankment data in standard GIS file format for integration in Flood forecast/inundation model and Embankment Asset Management Software. • Collection of Soil samples • Preparation of Final completion report.
