Design and Related Services of Canals and Structures on Main and Distributaries Canals of High Level Canal Range-I Canal System – 150 km canal length

The High Level Canal, Range-1 Irrigation Scheme is located in the lower Mahanadi River basin, and forms part of the delta Stage 1 development comprising over 180,000ha through major canal systems (Taladanda, Machhagon, High Level Canal, Range-1 and Kendrapara. The 53.1km long HLCR-1 contour canal offtakes from the left bank of the Birupa Barrage at Cuttack (20º30’52”N, 85º55’17” E) and terminates at Jenapur on the right bank of Brahmani. The canal commands a gross area (GCA) of 17,295ha and had an original cultivatable area (CCA) of 14,700ha, now reduced by urbanisation and other developments to about 13,790ha. It covers parts of Cuttack and Jajpur districts.

Actual Services provided by the Firm

• Topographical Survey for the flowing canals including bed and embankment profile using Total Station and GPS for 113 Km length. • Establish new permanent bench-marks (BM) at a maximum spacing of 500m. • Survey of 40m wide strip along the alignment of each canal at 30m intervals along the canal alignment and at each structure. • Survey the existing major structures along the main and distributary canals which comprises topographic and condition surveys. Design of new structures (202 Nos.) and suggested remedial measures on old structures (295 Nos.).
